“I have decided to run as a list opener for PNL. I will run so that PNL will become Romania’s main party for the first time since the fall of communism. On May 26, PNL has the historical chance to become Romania’s first party. I don’t want any office in the party, I will remain a simple Bucharest Sector 1 party member,” Bogdan told MEDIAFAX.
Rares Bogdan is known for his political talk show on news channel Realitatea TV, “Jocuri de Putere”, during which he frequently criticized the current ruling PSD-ALDE coalition.
The Liberal Party began meetings of its executive and national political bureaus on Thursday to decide on their list for the upcoming European Parliament election.
According to MEDIAFAX’s political sources, Bogdan will be followed on the list by Alba Iulia mayor Mircea Hava and current PNL MEPs Siegfried Muresan, Daniel Buda and Adina Valean.
Also according to the same sources, the liberals are expecting to obtain 10 MEP seats and an election score between 25 and 30%.
