Romania's Government will not provide next year the new social coupons only just introduced through the new education law, destined for low-income households with preschool children, will cut indemnities for veterans of the 1989 revolution and will restrict travel discounts.

The Government aims to reform its welfare policy through changes to the social protection measures for families with special needs and by increasing active measures for „family solidarity.”

According to a government document, the plan is to terminate social coupons for early education, cut benefits for distinguished participation in the December 1989 Revolution, and limit travel discounts to three round-trips or six one-way trips. The document does not say what kind of travel this applies to.
