Ball guests will have the opportunity to show their generosity bidding for objects put up for sale for the benefit of the Ovidiu Rom Association, which offers integrated services to severely impoverished children and their families.
"The idea is to raise money to help needy children go to school and stay in school,” association board member Leslie Hawke said Thursday.
Hawke, mother of famous Hollywood actor Ethan Hawke, has been working for charitable causes in Romania for the past eight years and plans to expand the Ovidiu Rom Association’s program “Every child in school” countrywide.
The top sold item at last year’s charitable auction was a Bvlgari bag donated by Uma Thurman, which sold for EUR40,000.
Participation at the charity ball, which is expected to host 650 guests, will be based on reservations as major investor (EUR30,000), VIP investor (EUR15,000), investor (EUR5,000), sponsor (EUR2,750) or individual (EUR500).
