Basescu stressed that nobody should be so sure the new Cabinet formed by Croitoru stands no chance to get a confidence vote in Parliament.
Asked to say what he will actually do to carry out the reforms he pledged to achieve if re-elected president, considering that most lawmakers are hostile toward him, Basescu stressed the strategy of assuming responsibility before Parliament over and over again can still be used, the way it was already applied in harsh political situations.
Romania’s Social Democratic Party, Liberal Party, Conservative Party, the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania and the group representing national minorities, which have a majority of more than 65% in Parliament, have said repeatedly they will not give Croitoru’s government a confidence vote and have often reaffirmed they endorse Sibiu city mayor Klaus Johannis for prime minister.
