„Who was the Government protecting when it allowed this ten day interval to get rid of stocks when the [Government Ordinance] stated they must be destroyed?” the Centre asks in a press release.

The Centre points out that hallucinogenic plant shops now offer discounts between „30 and 50%, as well as special promotions to get rid of their stocks, and continue to sell products such as Special Gold, which contains mephedrone.”

„These tactical measures are meant to stimulate sales before the emergency ordinance banning the 36 hallucinogenic plants is published in the Official Journal. (…) This way, Romania is encouraging the consumption of drugs which it has just ruled illegal,” the International Centre on Human Rights and Drug Policy says.

On February 10, The Romanian Government adopted an emergency decree banning the distribution and sale of 36 plants and hallucinogenic substances.
