Three Detained In Romanian Refereeing Corruption Case
Exiting the headquarters of DNA Pitesti, Savaniu pleaded his innocence and stated there is no evidence to back the charges against him.
On Wednesday, DNA Pitesti also interrogated referees Aurelian Bogaciu and Tiberiu Lajos. Bogaciu, Sorin Corpodean and Marcel Savaniu, together with Marcel Lica, were also questioned last Thursday by DNA Pitesti in the refereeing corruption file.
The Court of Arges County decided, a week ago, to arrest Arges FC sponsor Cornel Penescu, former CCA president Gheorghe Constantin, PIC hypermarket director Liviu Facaleata and former Arges County Consumer Protection Office director Cristian Libertatu. Penescu and Facaleata are charged with giving bribes, while Constantin and Libertatu are charged with taking bribe.
