Romanian Mayor Arrested For Corruption

Racz was detained for taking bribes during a sting operation organized by anticorruption prosecutors Friday evening.

The mayor was caught taking 10,000 lei (EUR1=RON4.2048) from the manager of a company, who had signed a service contract with the city hall in February 2010.

According to prosecutors, between April 2010 and February 2011, Racz received a RON41,000 bribe from the respective company to allow it to carry out the contract without problems.
