Romanian Audiovisual Council Member Pulls Toy Gun During Parliament Meeting
Audiovisual watchdog member Constantin Dutu said he brought the pistol to the meeting to show it to senator Sergiu Nicolaescu, a film director. Dutu also said he almost got in trouble with the communist secret police 25 years ago because of the toy gun.
Culture committee president Raluca Turcan invited Dutu to leave the meeting, saying his gesture was unacceptable.
Dutu had been called to the meeting Wednesday to answer questions regarding criminal files opened in his name in the ’70s and ’80s by communist authorities, said audiovisual watchdog head Rasvan Popescu.
