Early March, the Constitutional Court decided parliament needs to approve the criminal investigation on former or acting ministers who are also members of parliament.

The prosecutors’ request will be discussed Tuesday, Chamber speaker Bogdan Olteanu told MEDIAFAX Monday.

In January, Romanian President Traian Basescu asked interim justice minister at the time Teodor Melescanu to trigger legal procedures allowing the prosecution of former prime minister Adrian Nastase, former transport minister Miron Mitrea, acting labor minister Paul Pacuraru, former communication minister Zsolt Nagy, former defense minister Victor Babiuc, former economy minister Codrut Seres, former justice minister Tudor Chiuariu and former agriculture minister Traian Decebal Remes.
