According to Croitoru, extremely low salaries are the reason why it is difficult to have highly skilled people in the Government’s structure, not necessarily the current Cabinet.
Croitoru stressed that, although there is constant pressure from various bodies to get „the Government to do something” to stimulate the country’s economy, the Government can only ensure a proper framework to help revive investments. He added that Romania’s economic growth over the past years has been fueled mainly by massive capital inflows.
Croitoru also approached the public sector issue, particularly the issue of people who were fraudulently declared unfit for work at the age of 40-42 in order to receive disability pensions, adding there are at least 300,000 beneficiaries of disability pensions.
Croitoru also said the country’s public healthcare system is not at all reformed, adding that doctors are poorly paid and nobody cares to do something and truly reform the system.
