Nica said a new round of consultations with associative structures, civil society and the government will take place on March 18, to establish procedures for the appointment of school principles and hospital managers.

Nica also said a draft law subordinating local police to local authorities has already been drawn up.

He added that regarding the health sector, the governing coalition discussed the terms by which administrative and financial decentralization is to be achieved, so that local authorities become responsible for local hospitals.

Nica also said farming chambers will be created for each locality, to reform institutions in the agriculture sector.

“We’ll also decentralize cultural activities, which will be transferred to local authorities, to provide better care and management for cultural patrimony,” Nica said, adding sporting activities will also be decentralized.

The draft normative acts containing decentralization measures will be completed in about two months, by May 4, Prime Minister Emil Boc said Saturday.
