Romanian Govt To Analyze Decentralization In Education, Agriculture, Culture

The Romanian Government will analyze, within ten days, the draft laws regarding decentralization in Education, Agriculture, Culture and Labor, after laws were approved on Sunday transferring the duties in Health, Police and Sports to local authorities, Prime Minister Emil Boc said.

Interior Minister Dan Nica said, in Wednesday’s Government meeting, that several draft laws on decentralization have been developed, including one creating the local Police department, decentralization in agriculture and the transfer of hospitals and sporting grounds to the management of local authorities.

According to a Government document obtained recently by MEDIAFAX, the decentralization process will mean the transfer of duties in the main fields – Education, Health, Public Order and Safety, Social Assistance, Transports and Agriculture, starting with the month of May.
