Romania’s ’09 Real Salary Seen Dn 1.9%, Reviving In 2011 – Prognosis Comm

Romania’s National Prognosis Commission CNP sees the country’s real salary down 1.9% in 2009, envisaging its revival only in 2011, according to CNP spring estimations.

Also, the number of jobless people is seen increasing to 620,000 end-2009, from 403,400 in 2008, the Commission also said.

Hence, CNP sees the average net salary higher in 2009 and 2010, at 1,328 lei ((EUR1=RON 4.1974) and RON1,375, respectively, compared with an average net salary of RON1,280 at the end of 2008.

Compared with 2009, the salary gains in real terms will be similar in 2010, and up 1.1% in 2011.

CNP equally sees the country’s unemployment rate at 6.8% at the end of 2009, up over two percentage points from 4.4% in 2008.
