Presidential Decree Designating Romanian Prime Minster Published In Official Gazette

The presidential decree designating democrat liberal Theodor Stolojan for the prime minster office was published Thursday in Romania’s Official Gazette.

The decree states that, according to the provisions of article 85, section 1, article 94, section c, article 100, section 1 and article 103, section 1 of Romania’s Constitution, president Traian Basescu decrees: "Theodor Stolojan is hereby designated candidate for the prime minister office, to request the vote of confidence from Parliament on the governing program and list of members of the new Government".
 
Stolojan was officially designated prime minister Wednesday. The head of state said he designated someone who is capable of understanding the resources of the current economic crisis and who has the authority to manage a government and state institutions in this context.
