The ministry on Thursday said the activity of directors coordinating public health departments was previously assessed by a committee set up based on health minister’s Order no. 1228 of October 7. It also said the sacked managers will be replaced by interim managers until the positions are filled following a contest.
The ministry said some of the managers sacked breached Ordinance 69/2009 setting that hospital managers must have medical background, while others were reinstated after having been abusively sacked.
Unionists and medical staff have complained that most hospital managers failed to comply with the management program they pledged to carry through when they were appointed in management positions.
The ministry stressed any of the new hospital managers failing to observe the management program or respect their patients and the medical staff, will also be sacked.
Besides a deepening recession, Romania is also faced with political turmoil, after the Parliament dismissed the outgoing government with a vote of no confidence on October 13.
