Under current legislation, the child protection system is financed from the state budget, local budgets and from other sources. The law does not state the share each must contribute. There are counties that allotted no funds for child protection services.

Elena Tudor, general manager of the Child Protection Department within the Labor Ministry, said local authorities will cover costs entailed by the organization and operation of the child protection system.

State budget funds to finance child protection will consider cost standards set through Government decision, Tudor added.
