Romanian Parliament Committees OK Agriculture Ministry Budget

The committees for agriculture in the Romanian Parliament on Monday approved the 2012 budget of the Agriculture Ministry, of 14.9 billion lei (EUR3.42 billion), nearly RON1 billion lower than this year's RON15.8 billion.

Subsidies for producers will be reduced from RON1.99 billion this year, to RON1.8 billion in 2012.

The budget for co-financing and non-refundable financing will also be reduced, from RON2.9 billion this year to RON1.8 billion in 2012.

The allowance for diesel excise subsidies will be RON380 million in 2012, subsidies for pig welfare will amount to RON155 million, and RON892 million will be allotted for direct payments to the livestock farming sector.

Livestock breeding will receive subsidies in the amount of RON21 million, and RON50 million will be provided for programs with foreign refundable financing.
