The 20% penalty applies for each day of delay, starting with July 9.
On July 9, the appeals court annulled an order of the Ministry of Finance informing magistrates that their due 50% pay bonus for neuropsychological exhaustion has been suspended as of June.
Following the ministry’s refusal to comply, the Supreme Court filed legal action against the institution, demanding the payment of the wage bonus, as well as penalties against both the ministry and Gheorghe Pogea for failure to execute a court order.
The Supreme Court also requested the Finance Ministry and Pogea be compelled to pay damages, but the appeals court rejected the claim.
Pogea declined to comment on the court’s decision.
The authorities’ decision to cancel the 50% pay bonus for magistrates has triggered nationwide protests last week. The magistrates decided to halt trials in all courtrooms in the country for three hours daily, threatening to continue protests indefinitely.
