Geoana added social democrats will also propose the start of procedures to revise the Constitution, to apply the referedum results.

In Romania’s referendum held on November 22, 77.78% of voters supported a single-chamber Parliament, and 88.4% supported downsizing the Parliament to maximum 300 MPs.

Downsizing the Parliament to 300 lawmakers from the current 471 entails the amendment of the law regarding election in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, and the revision of Romania’s Constitution entails the organization of another referendum and a more complex legal procedure.
