The general manager of the National Coal Company in Petrosani, Daniel Surulescu, said no problems occurred when the miners resumed work in Petrila.
According to the company’s representatives, a committee of specialists in the mining sector checked all the underground unfolding work.
“Following the check-ups, the committee of experts decided that underground activity in the Petrila mine can be resumed, which actually happened without any problems,” Surulescu said.
The underground activity in the Petrila mine was immediately halted after the explosions on November 15, which claimed the lives of 13 miners and rescuers and injured other 14 people.
One of the miners died of cardiac arrest early this week at the Floreasca Emergency Hospital in Bucharest.
The management board of the coal company decided miners will receive the base salary and the seniority bonus for the period when the activity was suspended.
