Carpen, the former head of the prosecution office in Buftea, a small town near capital Bucharest, was indicted along judge Aurica Sterea of the Buftea courthouse and lawyers Adrian Richartt Zamfirachi and Claudia Gilceava, on several counts of bribe taking, influence peddling, document forgery and accessory to these crimes.
In the same file, prosecutors have indicted Mihail Visan, Gheorghe Cojocaru, Bogdan Vornicu, Gigi Alexandru Lovasz, Adriana Gheorghe, Daniel Nitu, Marian Cazacu, Marian Carbunaru and Aurelia Carbunaru for bribe giving, document forgery and accessory.
Carpen was arrested late April, along lawyer Adrian Zamfirachi. Prosecutors said Carpen allegedly took bribes from several people involved in criminal trials, promising favorable court rulings, with the aid of lawyers and police officers.
