“We’ve talked about a possible reduction of the fees for the ships that come for repairs. President Traian Basescu asked us to reanalyze the current tariffs,” said head of the maritime administration, Ioan Balan.

Balan sad the fees will be halved, but the exact price cut will be made public after the company makes a thorough analysis.

“First we must see how many ships came to the naval site for repairs, and then we will decide if we cut prices by more than 50%,” he added.

He said the fees for gaining access to the naval sites differ depending on the ship category.

The new fees might be applied at the end of next week, Balan said.

Transport minister Radu Berceanu, who also attended the meeting, explained that the discussion to reduce fees was brought about by the fact that the current repair prices are higher in Constanta than in other Black Sea harbors.
