Comanescu, a former ambassador of Romania to the European Union, was proposed Monday by Prime Minister Calin Tariceanu to fill the foreign minister position, vacated with the resignation of Adrian Cioroianu.
Also Monday, the head of state signed the decree appointing Comanescu in the top position of the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
The decree noting the vacancy of the foreign minister position and that appointing Comanescu were published in the Official Gazette Tuesday.
