Romanian deputy prime minister Marko Bela said Friday the Government must conform with the Constitutional Court ruling on its austerity measures and seek other ways to keep the deficit in check, likely by hiking the flat tax and the VAT.

Romanian deputy prime minister Dan Nica stated Monday, after the ruling coalition’s meeting, that April’s economic data presented by the Finance Minister Gheorghe Pogea show a first sign of economic relaunch.

The deputy prime minister office within Romania’s future coalition government will be filled by social democrat Senate chairman Ilie Sarbu or social democrat Dan Nica, sources within the Social Democratic Party said Thursday, adding a decision will be made soon.
