Romania’s Labor Minister Sulfina Barbu said Friday, referring to the 120,000 public sector employees to be laid off next year, that authorities are analyzing the matter to see how many state employees will be made redundant in each sector.

Romania will limit the public sector salary fund for next year to 39 billion lei (EUR1=RON4.1641) by reducing the number of employees in the public sector, according to the Memorandum of Understanding between Romania and the IMF and EU.

Romania’s telecom operator RomTelecom urged several of its business partners to hire a part of the 600 employees that will be laid off in May, RomTelecom said in a press release Saturday.
