The acting PSD leader Marcel Ciolacu has said on Wednesday evening that a political decision should be made regarding the candidacy of Şerban Nicolae for the Senate leadership. A surprise is possible, said the social-democratic leader.

The senators on Wednesday have rejected the Government's emergency ordinance for organizing early elections. The rejection project will reach the Chamber of Deputies, which will play a decisive role.

Teodor Meleşcanu has announced on Monday that he decided to retire from the position of Senate chairman, even though has not been published yet the decision of the Constitutional Court admitting the unconstitutionality of his election as the head of the Senate.
