The opposition Social-Liberal Union (USL) agrees that Romania should sign and ratify the European Union fiscal stability treaty, and its MPs will attend the related Parliament discussions, social democrat leader Victor Ponta said Monday.

The two treaties Romania signed with Syria in November 2010, one regarding extradition and another concerning the mutual transfer of people sentenced to prison, are blocked in Parliament, which considers that their ratification, given the current situation in Syria, would affect Romania’s image.

The signing, last week, of the Treaty on state borders between Romania and the Republic of Moldova, by Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat and Romanian Foreign Minister Teodor Baconschi, is unconstitutional, said Moldovan President Mihai Ghimpu, cited by the online edition of Jurnal de Chisinau.

Romania and the Republic of Moldova will sign a treaty regarding border statute, mutual support and collaboration on border issues, said Igor Corman, president of the Commission for Foreign Policy and European Integration of the Moldovan Parliament, cited by Moldpres on its website.
