According to liberal MP Diana Dusa, vice-president of the committee, the contract assigned by the ministry did not infringe any law, but that it “bordered on illegality.”

The democrat liberals, however, believe the other MPs in the committee want to give Nemirschi a free pass in the case.

Romanian environment minister Nicolae Nemirschi is subject to a parliament inquiry for the manner in which the ministry assigned an advertising contract to promote an EU-funded project for the environment.

According to media reports, the contract was assigned trough negotiation, without a public participation announcement.
