If Moldova Is Coupled With Ukraine, EU Accession Becomes Distant – Romanian President

The Republic of Moldova’s EU accession perspectives are distant if the country is “dropped together with Ukraine”, Romanian President Traian Basescu said Thursday, when he received the visit of Moldovan Prime Minister Zinaida Greceanii.

Basescu said Romania supports the inclusion of Moldova in the Western Balkan States group, in the outlook of EU enlargement.
 
"It is our policy that Moldova be included in the Western Balkans group. If it is dropped, together with Ukraine, its EU accession outlook is distant," said the head of state.
 
Zinaida Greceanîi is performing, Thursday, a working visit in Bucharest, and will attend the ceremony where the Republic of Montenegro accedes to the Southeastern Europe Cooperation Process, currently run by Moldova.
 
Authorities in Bucharest repeatedly stated Romania supports Moldova’s accession to the EU and its inclusion among Western Balkan countries in the event of EU enlargement.
