Liberal lawmaker Mihai Voicu said Monday after the meeting of the Parliament’s standing offices that hearings of proposed ministers will start this Wednesday and will end Friday at the latest. Voicu added some of the proposed minister haven’t yet sent their resumes to the Parliament.
Romania’s designated Prime Minister Lucian Croitoru said Friday he will seek a confidence vote in Parliament for a Cabinet of 14 ministries, headed by democrat liberals and experts.
Croitoru’s Cabinet keeps Finance Minister Gheorghe Pogea, Transport Minister Radu Berceanu, Economy Minister Adriean Videanu, Justice Minister Catalin Predoiu, Culture Minister Theodor Paleologu, Defense Minister Mihai Stanisoara and Development Minister Vasile Blaga, part of Prime Minister Emil Boc’s Cabinet, which lost a confidence vote earlier this month.
The rest of the ministries will be headed by experts: Emeric Saghi – Interior Ministry, Bogdan Aurescu – Foreign Ministry, Daniel Funeriu – Education, Youth and Sports Ministry, Mihai Seitan – Labor Ministry, Adrian Radulescu – Agriculture Ministry, Cristian Vladescu – Health Ministry and Sulfina Barbu – Environment Ministry.
Although Croitoru and democrat liberals have said they are confident this government would get Parliament approval, the Cabinet has slim chances to receive a confidence vote because all other parliamentary parties oppose Croitoru and back Sibiu mayor Klaus Johannis for prime minister, whom the head of state declined to nominate.
Victor Ponta, vice-president of the Social Democratic Party, told MEDIAFAX Monday social democrat lawmakers in the commissions hearing the proposed ministers will vote down on all of them with the possible exception of Bogan Aurescu.
