The agency started investigations following media reports and is checking liberal senator Mircea Diaconu, who is also the manager of the Nottara Theater in Bucharest, and liberal senator Paul Ichim, who is also head of a hospital department. The agency’s list also includes liberal senator Mircea Cinteza, who is also a hospital manager.

People at the agency told MEDIAFAX that the Senate’s committee for legal matters has issued such derogations for several senators, not just the three liberals.

„Technically, these derogations are illegal, because the committee for legal matters cannot give derogations from the incompatibility law, which is an organic law,” the sources said.

The added the number of senators suspected of incompatibility with public office is around ten.
