Antonescu said liberals want the Government’s confidence vote on the education bill to be postponed until the Constitutional Court discusses the notification submitted by Senate Chairman Mircea Geoana last week regarding a potential conflict between state institutions, triggered by the Executive’s decision to withdraw the education bill from the Senate and seek lawmakers’ confidence vote to pass it.

The Constitutional Court decided Wednesday debates on the notification will be resumed on November 3.

Geoana said last week the Government’s decision to withdraw the draft law from the Senate is an „arbitrary move”, which translates into stripping the Parliament of its attributions.

The Parliament decided last week the Government will seek a confidence to pass the education bill on October 28.
