Three More Die As Flu Epidemic Death Toll Hits 92

The death toll of Romania’s ongoing flu epidemic hit 92 on Thursday, after three more men were announced to have succumbed to the vrus.

Two men in their 50’s from, Bucharest and Prahova county respectively, died on Wednesday due to type A influenza, according to Romania’s National Public Health Institute (INSP).

The institute also announced on Thursday that another 64-year old man from Constanta county who died on February 2 was confirmed with the disease.

All three victims also had other medical conditions and did not receive flu shots.

Romania’s Health Ministry officially declared a flu epidemic on January 30, following three consecutive weeks in which the number of new cases surpassed initial estimates.
