The European Commissioner for Justice, Vera Jourova, is carrying out an official visit to Bucharest on Monday and Tuesday, where she is scheduled to meet to with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, Justice Minister Tudoreul Toader and Supreme Court Chairman Cristina Tarcea.

Romanian President Traian Basescu said Thursday there were talks about Romania’s future EU commissioner during the EU leaders’ meeting in Brussels but said he doesn’t want to discuss the issue publicly to avoid jeopardizing the country’s chances for a substantial portfolio.

Romania’s Government nominated Dacian Ciolos, a former agriculture minister, for European Commissioner and the proposition will be forwarded to President Traian Basescu Monday, Prime Minister Emil Boc said.
